The Florida State Seminoles have their sights set on the national championship in 2023. With a stacked team and an ascending roster, the sky is potentially the limit for the ‘Noles this fall. And if all goes to plan, FSU will once again be well represented in the 2024 NFL Mock Draft cycle.

FSU Mock Draft: Jared Verse, Jordan Travis Highlight 6 Seminoles Drafted

When Jared Verse opted to return to Tallahassee for one more season, the tide truly turned in the ACC. Verse, a transfer from Albany in 2022, exceeded even the loftiest of expectations last fall.

A true game-changer off the edge, Verse was consistently in the face of opposing quarterbacks and influenced the Seminoles’ opponents more than any other player on defense. If his flashes of brilliance in 2022 were any indicator, Verse could bring home some serious hardware come December.

But that may not be all he brings home if the latest 2024 NFL Mock Draft by Pro Football Network’s Ian Cummings comes true.

Cummings penned Verse as not just a first-round selection but a top-10 pick, landing him to the Los Angeles Rams at pick No. 8.

“The Rams’ roster truly needs a full revamp, but EDGE is one of the most pressing, high-value needs,” Cummings wrote. “Had he declared for the 2023 NFL Draft, Florida State’s Jared Verse could have been an early-to-mid first-round pick. At 6’4″, 249 pounds, he has burst, bend, power, and active hands, and he’s on track to exceed his nine sacks and 17 TFLs in 2023.”

Verse isn’t the only Seminole on the 2024 Mock Draft by Cummings, rather, he’s the first in a line of six Seminoles selected.

The list of Florida State players drafted looked like this:

• Round 1, Pick 8: Jared Verse, EDGE
• Round 2, Pick 42: Fentrell Cypress II, CB
• Round 2, Pick 50: Fabien Lovett, DT
• Round 2, Pick 51: Jaheim Bell, TE
• Round 3, Pick 78: Jordan Travis, QB
• Round 3, Pick 85: Trey Benson, RB

Only Ohio State had more selections in this recent mock draft than FSU did.

Travis was the eighth quarterback selected and Cypress the eighth cornerback drafted. Verse was the first of the edge defenders to see their name. Bell, meanwhile, landed as the third tight end, with Lovett as the fifth defensive tackle, and Benson the ninth running back.

Noticeably, every single player mocked in this draft from Florida State didn’t start their collegiate career in Tallahassee. Sure, they’ve made their name known with the ‘Noles in the case of Verse, Lovett, Travis, and Benson, but this six-pack of Seminoles each spurned the older regime at Florida State during their recruitment.

Nevertheless, FSU has made it work with recent transfer portal additions, and it looks as if their most recent class of additions may be on par with their previous successes. Jermaine Johnson became a first-round pick after just a single season in Tallahassee, and it looks like Verse will expound on that trend.

Cypress and Bell entered the roster through the December window of the transfer portal and come with high expectations.

If FSU’s recent success has done anything, it’s pushed the Seminoles back into the national conversation. Next up is re-entering the NFL Draft picture as a true producer of next-level talent.

It looks like we’re already there in Tallahassee.
