Around 6:17 PM, Patrolman Alvator was conducting a routine patrol when he spotted a 2009 Dodge Caliber exhibiting erratic driving behavior on SR 36 northbound.

The vehicle was seen swerving and tailgating another car. Concerned for public safety, Patrolman Alvator activated his emergency lights and pulled over the Dodge Caliber near Orchard Street and SR 36.

Upon approaching the vehicle, Patrolman Alvator encountered Karina Armando at the wheel and her 24-year-old passenger, Olivia Morrow.

Armando admitted to consuming alcohol earlier at Donovan’s Reef, a popular beachfront bar in Sea Bright.

The situation escalated as Patrolwoman Nicole Curley arrived to provide backup. Given Armando’s age, Patrolman Alvator requested her to perform field sobriety exercises.

Olivia Morrow’s belligerent and uncooperative behavior became a concern during the field sobriety tests.

Despite warnings of potential obstruction of justice charges, Morrow’s actions persisted, leading her boyfriend to intervene and escort her away from the scene for safety reasons.

Armando’s field sobriety exercises painted a concerning picture of impairment.

She struggled to maintain balance during the One Leg Stand test, failed to walk heel-to-toe during the Walk and Turn test, and recited the alphabet slurredly during the Alphabet test.

The Finger Dexterity test also revealed inconsistencies in her counting.

So, Patrolman Alvator decided to arrest Karina Armando on the grounds of driving under the influence.

Following her arrest on charges of driving under the influence (DUI), the aftermath of Karina Armando’s encounter with law enforcement sheds light on the procedural steps taken by the authorities.

After being pulled over for erratic driving on May 21, 2023, by Patrolman Robert Alvator of the Highlands Police Department, Karina’s journey through the legal process began.

Karina was transported to the Atlantic Highlands Police Department, as the breathalyzer test couldn’t be conducted at the local station.
